Electrocoagulation

Processing and cooking vegetables

Company introduction

Northern Italy manufacturer of 1st and 4th range vegetables products and ready meals.

Company requests

The company has no wastewater treatment and needs to discharge into river water. The area available is not enough for a traditional chemical-physical installation with a biological section annexed for an increasing flow about 100mc / day.

Problem

The water, coming from many production departments, contains more or less dirty suspended solids, surfactants (45ppm), oils and fats and a good percentage of soluble COD deriving from the cooking broth (4000ppm).

Solution

The electrocoagulation laboratory trials show the removal of pollutants in 30 minutes; the characteristics of the treated water allow to discharge into river waters.

Technical conclusions

The customer installed two electrocoagulation plants.
