Company introduction
In the northern Italy the metalworking company paints steel and aluminium coils for the interior and exterior design and for automotive sectors.
Company requests
The company has a physical-chemical treatment plant managed with traditional treatment (ferric chloride, lime and polyelectrolyte powder pre-dispersed locally). The customer asks for a simpler and above all more effective solution.
Problem
The depurator management is quite complicated: it requests a dedicated person, the pollution content requests a big quantity of chemical products in order to treat 10 mc only and the COD and surfactants stay critical parameters for the discharge in sewer. Furthermore the quantity of sludge disposed of is considerable.
Solution
The amount of oil present in the wastewater is so high that it seems an emulsion. The laboratory trials allowed to find the correct formulation of multifunctional powder to remove all the oil and surfactants: the wastewater can be sent in a compact DP4 plant and the treated water can be discharged into the sewer respecting the law parameters.
Technical conclusions
The customer achieved a first economical saving replacing the previous three products with a single multifunctional powder and drastically reducing the sludge to be disposed of. But also he evaluated a second saving in terms of man-hours dedicated to the management of the plant.
