Electrocoagulation
Breaking emulsions
Company introduction
North-eastern Italy metalworking company produces crawlers.
Company requests
The company treats the exhausted emulsions mixed with the washing waters in the chemical-physical depurator. The removal of COD and hydrocarbons is only partial and the customer asks to improve the efficiency of the system.
Problem
The water coming from the chemical-physical treatment has a COD reduction from 20000 to 5300 ppm and a reduction of hydrocarbons from 1700 to 560 ppm.
Solution
The laboratory trials are confirmed from a pilot test: the electrocoagulation technology can achieve better results with a low energy consumption (2.5 KW / h). The COD goes from 20000 to 2700 ppm and the hydrocarbons fall from 1700 to 56 ppm.
Technical conclusions
The customer appreciated a technical and economic advantage adopting a winning technology from many points of view.
